Imposition Mother
In search of lost parts of his childhood Briggs’ work is an attempt to think outside the reality he was socialised into. Through constructing 'new realities' he questions the boundaries between child/adult, self/other, nature/culture, real/fake in an attempt to revive his unconditioned self, beyond the family bubble. Although easily assumed to be digitally manipulated or faked, upon closer inspection the images are realised to be more real than first expected. Involving staged installations, the cartoonesque and the performative, Briggs looks back to his younger self in an attempt to re-capture childhood nature through adult eyes.

Natural Inside I painted a square of woodland and myself luminous pink, and crouched within the frame wearing an up-scaled latex mask of my Father.
